CNN topped viewership for the second night of the 2016 Democratic Convention, which drew 24.3 million viewers across the broadcasters and cable news outlets, according to Nielsen. In total, Tuesday’s DNC viewership was up 25 percent from what the RNC pulled in on its second night on July 19. CNN drew 5.929 million total viewers and 2.051 million in the news demo of A25-54, down 4 percent from its DNC day one coverage. NBC took second place, with 5.281 million viewers and 1.93 million A25-54 watching. MSNBC was third, with a total audience of 3.834 million and 1.2 million A25-54, followed by ABC in fourth with 3.463 million total and 1.098 million A25-54 viewers. CBS trailed with 2.945 million total and 888,000 A25-54), and RNC topper Fox New Channel was in the sixth spot with 2.851 million total viewers and 634,000 A25-54.

Peep Show, a half-hour series based on the award-winning British comedy that just concluded its 12-year run last year, is in development at Starz. UK creators Sam Bain and Jesse Armstrong will consult producers on the US version, to be written by Eli Jorne, who will serve as exec producer/showrunner. Jimmy Fox (The Arrangement) and Layla Smith (Witless) of All3Media’s Objective Media Group (the company behind the original series) will also serve as exec producers with Greg Lipstone, CEO of All3Media America.

Spike greenlit 30 new episodes of Bar Rescue for the fifth season of the network’s original series, in addition to ordering 10 more Back to the Bar specials and an untitled, late-night talk show pilot from series star, bar and nightlife expert Jon Taffer. Series and pilot are produced by 3 Ball Entertainment (Extreme Weight Loss, My Cat From Hell) and executive produced by Taffer. The fifth season of Bar Rescue will debut on August 7 at 9p, with the additional specials airing throughout the season’s run of original episodes on Sunday nights.

Verizon lost 41,000 FiOS video subscribers in 2Q16 thanks to a seven-week worker strike, according CFO Fran Shammo, speaking at an earnings call on Tuesday. “When we settled with the representative employees, there was a large backlog of installations,” said Shammo. “As we sit here today, it’s back to normal. But during the strike, we didn’t do any advertising…. We feel like we’ll be back in stride by the fourth quarter.” Chairman and CEO Lowell McAdam offered a sunny outlook on the acquisition last year of AOL and recent deal for Yahoo. “We have heard advertisers say to us they have more ads to place than places to put them,” said McAdam. “We’ll be one of the few who can deliver advertising across the home and across the mobile Internet.”

Telemundo is teaming with YouTube Spaces for a YouTube Pop-Up Space at Miami’s Wynwood Warehouse Project, taking place now through July 28.
