FX picked up critically acclaimed The Americans for a 13-episode fifth season to air in 2017, and a 10-episode sixth and final season slated for 2018. FX Productions also closed new overall deals with exec producers/ showrunners Joe Weisberg and Joel Fields. “We have no doubt that this two-season order will allow Joe and Joel to tell this story to its perfect conclusion,” said FX president of original programming Eric Schrier. Season four finale airs Wednesday, June 8 at 10p.

Original episodes of CNN’s The Hunt, hosted by John Walsh, will be simulcast on sister net HLN, starting with the season three launch on Sunday, June 19. The move is part of a shift in focus, Ken Jautz, EVP of CNN, told Variety. “One of the main things we are doing is refocusing the network on its news roots,” said the exec, who also oversees HLN. “We do not believe there will be any cannibalization, but a substantial increase in cumulative reach.”

Actress Beth Howland died December 31 from lung cancer, confirmed her husband, actor Charles Kimbrough, who told the Associated Press she hadn’t wanted a service or memorial. Howland, who was 74 at the time of her death, was best known to TV audiences for her role as waitress Vera on Alice.
