Matt Lauer, Meredith Vieira and Savannah Guthrie are set to host NBC’s coverage of the Opening Ceremony of the XXXI Olympic Games on Friday, August 5, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This year’s Games mark Lauer’s 11th Olympics for Today, and his fifth time working the primetime Opening Ceremony broadcast. It’s Vieira’s third Opening Ceremony for NBC, and Guthrie’s third Olympics for Today.

Fox will not be proceeding with its series plans for Famous, the half-hour comedy created by writer/producer Ralph Farquhar (Real Husbands Of Hollywood) and Ty Hodges, reports Deadline. Gordon Ramsay, chef, TV personality and producer, has cooked up Studio Ramsay, an indie production company solely owned by him, where he plans to create unscripted shows and develop talent. Studio Ramsay also will have a scripted division to focus on food-themed programming. Ramsay and his new company are in a joint venture with All3Media, with which he’s had a business relationship for six years.

Kerry Washington signed an overall deal with ABC Studios, home of her hit series Scandal, and its cable/digital division ABC Signature Studios, for her new production company Simpson Street. The two-year pact will see Simpson Street, develop exclusive broadcast, cable and digital projects. Washington brings Sharla Sumpter Bridgett to the studio as development executive and producing partner at Simpson Street. Simpson Street’s first project, in the works before the ABC deal, was Confirmation, HBO’s movie about the Anita Hill/Clarence Thomas scandal.

The live broadcast of the Billboard Latin Music Awards will air on Telemundo on Thursday, April 28 at 8p. The Miami-based event, under the moniker “Billboard Duets,” will feature collaborative performances by Juan Gabriel & Alejandro Fernandez; Juanes & Juan Gabriel; Marco Antonio Solis & Marc Anthony; Yandel & Victor Manuelle and more.
