CBS made it official via a Super Bowl spot that the current season seven of The Good Wife will be its last. A statement from Glenn Geller, President, CBS Entertainment and David Stapf, President, CBS Television Studios, explained why. “It’s never easy to say goodbye to one of the crown jewels of your network and studio, much less to a show that is among the best on television,” said the execs. “But it also feels very right to end with the seven-year story its creators envisioned, and to celebrate the show’s final run while at the top of its creative game.” Series finale is set for Sunday, May 8.

Budweiser may have plunked down the $5 million it cost for a spot during Super Bowl 50, but the company got its best promotional moments for free. After the Broncos won the big game, Peyton Manning mentioned – twice! – that to celebrate, he was going to “drink a lot” of Budweiser. “Hi Internet,” tweeted Lisa Weiser, a spokesperson for Anheuser-Busch. “For the record, we did not pay Peyton Manning to mention Budweiser tonight. We are surprised and delighted that he did.” Apex MG Analytics estimated a mention by Manning was worth upwards of $1.6 million. According to Beer Business Daily, Manning owns shares in two Anheuser-Busch distributorships in Louisiana, which could help account for his partiality for the King of Beers.
