Shonda Rhimes, Common and Norman Lear have joined forces as executive producers on America Divided, a documentary series ordered by EPIX. Created by Solly Granatstein, Lucian Read and Richard Rowley, each episode will focus on celebrities exploring inequality in the context of their own lives. To date, America Ferrera, Jesse William, Zach Galifianakis, Amy Poehler and Peter Sarsgaard are scheduled to appear. “Our aim is to expose the damage extreme inequality inflicts on all Americans, reveal its systemic causes, and celebrate real-world heroes fighting for solutions,” said the show’s creators.

Spike TV renewed Lip Sync Battle for season three. “Lip Sync Battle is a multiplatform pop-culture phenomenon that has played an integral role in delivering a new and broader audience to Spike,” said Kevin Kay, net president, of Spike’s most-watched original series ever. The new season, taping later this year, will consist of 20 half-hour episodes.

Billions had the best series debut performance ever for a Showtime original series with 2.99 million views to date. The drama was sampled early across platforms to the net’s subscribers, delivering 1.6 million views prior to its Sunday night debut. On Sunday, the drama delivered 1.4 million viewers on the network. The prior record holder was Ray Donovan with 2.91 million views, including linear premiere night and advance sampling on subscriber platforms in 2013.
