Not so fast, responded Media General to the New York Post’s report that it is dropping its plan to acquire Meredith for $2.4 billion, a withdrawal that would come after shareholder objections to the merger and an unsolicited $4.1 billion offer from competitor Nexstar Broadcasting Group. In a statement on Wednesday, Media General said its “board of directors continues to recommend the Meredith transaction as it is undertaking its review of the Nexstar proposal.”

NBC Owned Television Stations announced that former Pussycat Doll Ashley Roberts will take the reins at NBC’s1st Look starting next year. Roberts will make her debut as host Saturday, January 9, 2016 following Saturday Night Live with a special “Awards Season Kickoff” show. Current host Audrina Patridge will continue in her role through the fall 2015 season.

TV Guide has been sold to NTVB Media, publisher of Channel Guide and TV Weekly. OpenGate had purchased the magazine for $1 in 2008 from tech company Macrovision; the sale price this time around was “much more than a dollar,” said NTVB Media chief Andy DeAngelis. The deal does not include web site TVGuide.com, which remains with CBS Interactive.

The September 30 re-launch of Fuse led to triple digit growth among A18-34, as the net expanded beyond music to target Latino and multicultural viewers. The television premiere of The Fluffy Movie, followed by the season four premiere of Big Freedia: Queen of Bounce at 11p and new series Transcendent at 11:30, drove Wednesday night viewership (8p-1a) among A18-34 up 325 percent and 410 percent, respectively, versus year-to-date and October 2014 time period averages.Fuse reached nearly 1.3 million viewers in the time period.

Freshman Fox comedies Grandfathered (1.2) and The Grinder (1.0) dipped from matching A18-49 Live+SD ratings of 1.5 last week. Scream Queens dropped two tenths, to 1.2/4, but was the top program of the night in teens. Taking the long-ish view, Fox predicts Live+7 lifts of 58 percent, 64 percent and 91 percent for the DVR-friendly shows.

Director, producer and former child actor Kevin Corcoran died October 6. He was 66. Corcoran appeared in numerous Disney projects, including the film Old Yeller, eventually graduating to jobs behind the camera at Disney and on shows including Murder, She Wrote.
