CBS is foregoing “air-conditioned skyboxes” for Democratic and Republican convention coverage in favor of participants “on the ground,” said CBS News president David Rhodes at TCA. More romance is in store at The CW. The network is developing a series based on the Nicholas Sparks novel The Notebook, which is being written by Todd Graff. The Weather Channel is marking the 10th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina with a week of cross-platform programming August 24-28. The slate includes a visit to two cities devastated by the storm in Katrina: 10 Years Later, and Katrina 2065, a Sam Champion-hosted look at likely scenarios if Hurricane Katrina hit 50 years from now.

Matt Ryan will reprise the role of John Constantine on an episode of The CW’s Arrow. Ryan played the character on NBC’s canceled Constantine. “It will be a well-deserved tip of the hat to all the Constantine fans who were so incredibly supportive of that series,” said Arrow exec producer Marc Guggenheim.
