BET is getting its boy band on with a three-night miniseries based on the iconic music group New Edition. Outcast, the inaugural series from Fox International Channel’s studio division, brought in David Denman (The Office) as a regular, and solidified cast roles for recurring actors Catherine Dent (The Shield), Melinda McGraw (Mad Men), Brent Spiner, Lee Tergesen (The Americans) and Grace Zabriskie (The Killing). In its summer finale on August 5, ABC Family’s Baby Daddy delivered two-year finale highs in total viewers (1.3 million), viewers 12-34 (668,000/.7 rating) and target W18-34 (394,000/1.2 rating) and F12-34 (567,000/1.2 rating). Launch to date, it’s the network’s No. 1 comedy yet in A18-34 (548,000/.8 rating), according to Nielsen.
