Twist his arm: Smashing Pumpkins founder Billy Corgan is joining TNA Wrestling as senior producer, creative and talent development. Said TNA EVP of television and talent John Gaburick, “We knew Billy would bring a great viewpoint when we offered, and he graciously accepted, to attend a recent creative summit. During those meetings, Billy’s pioneering perspectives and collaborative approach made it quickly evident we needed to bring him on as a permanent member of our team.” Corgan will develop characters and create storylines for shows including Impact Wrestling, airing Fridays at 9p on Destination America.

Actress Jayne Meadows Allen died April 26 of natural causes. She was 95. In addition to roles in film and on Broadway, Allen had television roles on shows including Hawaii Five-0, Adam-12 and Meeting of Minds, and was a long-time panelist on I’ve Got a Secret. Her husband, original Tonight Show host Steve Allen, died in 2000.

Oscar-nominated screenwriter Don M. Mankiewicz died of congestive heart failure on April 25. He was 93. Mankiewicz, active in the Writers Guild of America, wrote the pilots for Ironside and Marcus Welby, M.D.
