As ABC’s Cristela teetered on the renewal bubble Friday night, creator and star Cristela Alonzo addressed the show’s possible cancellation in her blog. “If the show ends and tonight’s season finale is the last episode the world gets to see, just know that this show gave opportunities to Latino writers and actors that are hard to come by,” wrote Alonzo. As for the complaint that all Latino families are not like those portrayed in the show, Alonzo pointed out, “That’s why the show is called Cristela and not Every Latino Family.” Finale drew .9/4 among A18-49, according to early Nielsens, down from 1.3/5 for the show’s October premiere.

I was just thinking, ‘Are there other ways to skin this cat?’…I’d covered an election four times, and it didn’t appear that there was going to be anything wildly different about this one.”
