After David Lynch tweeted that he would not be directing Showtime’s Twin Peaks reboot “because not enough money was offered to do the script the way I felt it needed to be done,” Showtime issued its own statement. “We believed we were working towards solutions with David and his reps on a few remaining deal points,” said the net. “We continue to hold out hope that we can bring [Twin Peaks] back in all its glory with both of its extraordinary creators, David Lynch and Mark Frost, at its helm.”

On a soft holiday weekend, Sunday’s opening of NBC event series A.D. The Bible Continues, the follow up to Mark Burnett and Roma Downey mini-series hit The Bible, averaged a strong 2.3 rating among A18-49 and 9.5 million viewers in early Nielsens, making it the top-rated show on broadcast for the night (though down from the 3.3 A18-49/13.1 million viewers for History’s Bible bow). The net’s premiere of drama American Odyssey drew a 1.2 in the demo and 5.4 million viewers.

The March 31 19 Kids & Counting wedding special on TLC delivered 4.3 million P2+ viewers and a 3.5 rating among W25-54. The two-hour event was number one in all of television from 8p-10p with W18-49/18-34 and P18-34. New series 7 Little Johnstons drew a 1.5 rating among W25-54 and averaged 2.0 million P2+ viewers, making TLC the number one net in all of television with P/W/18-34 delivery.

TV One’s 30th Annual Easter Stellar Awards delivered .39 (228,000) among P25-54, its most-watched weekend primetime premiere of the year in the demo, and third-most-watched telecast on the net this year. The show scored a .62 HH rating (354,000) and .58 W25-54 (174,000). Premiere and encores combined to reach 1.1 million viewers. “We’re thrilled by the viewer response to the Stellar Awards – the show was a perfect programming event for Easter Sunday,” says net president Brad Siegel.
