South African comedian Trevor Noah will take over as host of Comedy Central’s The Daily Show when Jon Stewart exits. Calling Noah, who joined the late nighter as a correspondent in December, “wickedly funny,” net president Michele Ganeless said, “We set out to find a fresh voice who can speak to our audience with a keen take on the events of the day, and we found that in Trevor. He has a huge international following and is poised to explode here in America.” Said Stewart, who has not announced a departure date, “I’m thrilled for the show and for Trevor….In fact, I may rejoin as a correspondent just to be a part of it!”

Nat Geo scored the highest total viewership in network history with Sunday’s premiere of Killing Jesus. NBC’s next live musical event will be The Wiz. Sound of Music and Peter Pan producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron return for the production, airing Thursday, December 3. But that’s just the beginning. Produced by Cirque du Soleil’s new stage theatrical division, the show will have a Broadway revival for the 2016-17 season. The move to Broadway is “a natural next step for our live musical events,” said NBC Entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt.
