The Fashion Police show will go on without Joan Rivers, E! announced Friday. Along with on-air tributes to the iconic comedian, who died September 4 at 81, “We have also thought long and hard about what Joan would have wanted as it pertains to the future of Fashion Police,” said the net. “We decided, with Melissa Rivers’ blessing, that Joan would have wanted the franchise to continue.” The style commentary series picks up with Golden Globes coverage on Monday, January 12.

Shonda Rhimes lashed out on Twitter Friday, taking New York Times writer Alessandra Stanley to task for suggesting the prolific exec producer (Scandal, Grey’s Anatomy) should title her autobiography “How to Get Away with Being an Angry Black Woman.” One of Rhimes’ posts pointed out that in fact a white male, Pete Nowalk, is the creator of the upcoming drama, How to Get Away with Murder (debuting Thursday, September 25 at 10p) that Stanley was reviewing. Cast members including Scandal’s Kerry Washington and Joshua Malina jumped in to defend their boss; Stanley said the point of her piece was to praise Rhimes for “pushing back so successfully” against the stereotype.

Actress Polly Bergen died September 20 of complications from emphysema. She was 84. In addition to stage and film roles, Bergen’s career included numerous television roles, from her Emmy-winning part on 1958’s Playhouse 90 to The Sopranos and Desperate Housewives.
