CBS switched its game plan for upcoming Monday nights. The net will air back-to-back eps of Big Bang Theory (the second a repeat) for the next three weeks at 8p, instead of following the hit comedy with Mom, which was to have had its season two premiere September 29 at 8:30. The Millers premieres in the 8:30p slot October 20, with Mom premiering Thursday, October 30 at 8:30p, when Bang makes its move back to Thursdays with the exit of Thursday Night Football.

Fox is rattling the format of ratings-challenged reality experiment Utopia. Next week viewers enter the picture when the cast selects two Utopians for possible exile, with Utopiatv.com passport members adding a third. One of the three will leave; two two new candidates arrive to compete for the open spot. Utopia airs tonight at 8p.

TV One has a treat for viewers: an anthology of three short horror films just in time for Halloween. The Fright Night Files airs Saturday, October 18 at 8p. “Though we have been successful in the past with genre-based programming with our Easter and Christmas offerings, it was important to expand into this specific space, where there are so few representations in African American programming,” said Cathy Hughes, founder and chairperson of Radio One Inc.

CBS renewed Big Brother for seasons 17 and 18, to run in the summers of 2015 and 2016. The most recent iteration of the reality hit, which had its finale on Wednesday, was up 2 percent in viewers (to 7.56 million) and 4 percent in A18-49 (to 2.7/9). After-show Big Brother After Dark will also be back, airing exclusively on upcoming cable net POP, rebranded from TVGN.

Can Kathy Griffin fill Joan Rivers‘ shoes? According to The Hollywood Reporter, a shortlist of potential replacements has been drawn up to take over for the late great comedienne on E!‘s Fashion Police. However, no formal talks have taken place, as the network’s executives feel not enough time has passed since Rivers’ death.  The series is set to return on Monday, January 12, following the Golden Globes on Sunday, January 11.
