The first day of a 12-day Simpsons marathon on FXX “truly exceeded our wildest expectations,” said Chuck Saftler, President, Program Strategy and COO, FX Networks. Thursday was the most-watched day in FXX’s one-year history, according to Nielsen estimates, ranking number one among all basic cable nets in primetime among M18-34, and number two among A18-34. Primetime episodes averaged 1.01 million total viewers in Live+ Same Day, a 391 percent boost, and 623,000 among A18-49, a 461 percent lift. As for the Live+Same Day reporting, which FX has pulled away from, the net notes that percentage increases for Live+7 are “inconsequential” for acquired programming.

At the end of the season finale of Discovery’s long-running Mythbusters Thursday night, original hosts Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman announced that build team Tory Belleci, Kari Byron and Grant Imahara will not be returning for the science series’ next go-round. All three took to Twitter to thank fans. “The show is taking a different direction,” posted Byron. “It was an amazing run.”
