No thanks, said Time Warner Inc. to an $80 billion takeover offer from Rupert Murdoch‘s 21st Century Fox. The media company said in a statement Wednesday that accepting the proposal was not in the best interests of Time Warner or its stockholders, since the company’s strategic plan will create more value “and is superior to any proposal that 21st Century Fox is in a position to offer.” Time Warner also cited “considerable strategic, operational and regulatory risks.” 21st Century Fox confirmed it made the bid, adding that the companies aren’t in discussions.

Saying it was “embarrassed,” Comcast apologized to Ryan Block and his wife, Veronica Belmont, after a recording of Block ‘s frustrating attempt to cancel their cable service went viral. When the cable provider’s customer retention specialist refused to take no for answer (“I’m really ashamed to see you go to something that can’t give you what we can”), tech journalist Block posted eight minutes of the call online. “The way in which our representative communicated with them is unacceptable and not consistent with how we train our customer service representatives,” said a statement from the company. “We are investigating this situation and will take quick action.”
