To IFC go the Spoils. The offbeat comedy net ordered a sequel to Funny or Die series The Spoils of Babylon, titled The Spoils of Dying. “Hang onto your hats, America!” said star and exec producer Will Ferrell. “This one’s going to be totally bonkers!” Miniseries focused on “the seedy underbelly of the 1950s jazz scene” premieres summer 2015.

Actor Don Matheson died June 29 after battling lung cancer. He was 84. Best known as a regular on Land of the Giants, Matheson’s numerous television credits also included The Waltons, Dynasty and Falcon Crest.

CBS‘s 60 Minutes wrapped the holiday weekend as the most-watched program Sunday night with 8.5 million viewers, according to early Nielsen estimates, while the net’s Big Brother was the top-rated show of the night (1.8/6 among A18-49). ABC singing competition Rising Star held onto last week’s 1.2/4 rating, while NBC‘s Miley Cyrus: Bangerz Tour drew a meager .7 in the demo and 2 million viewers.

For the second consecutive quarter, HGTV was the top cable network on weekends among women, including upscale W25-54, attracting an average 14 million viewers every Saturday and Sunday between 7a-8p. Top rated weekend programs among W25-54 during 2Q14 were Property Brothers (.77), Flip or Flop (.71) and Fixer Upper (.70).
