After anti-Semitic comments in Playboy caused outrage (“Mel Gibson is in a town that’s run by Jews”), actor Gary Oldman (Robocop) offered a profuse apology on Wednesday’s Jimmy Kimmel Live for his “offensive, insensitive, pernicious and ill-informed” remarks. Kimmel thanked Oldman, on tour to promote upcoming Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, for not canceling the previously-scheduled appearance in the wake of the uproar.

Charissa Thompson (Fox Sports Live) and TV personality/producer Tracey Edmonds (Deion’s Family Playbook) have been assigned co-host posts at syndie newsmagazine Extra, replacing Maria Menounos, who left in May. “From the moment I put Tracey and Charissa on stage with [host] Mario [Lopez], their chemistry was off the charts,” said senior exec producer Lisa Gregorisch-Dempsey. E!‘s Untold with Maria Menounos launches Thursday, July 17 at 8p; season 21 of Extra premieres Monday, September 8.
