Diane Sawyer is leaving her lead anchor role at ABC News.George Stephanopoulos has been named Chief Anchor of ABC News, covering major special events and breaking news; starting September 2, David Muir will step in as anchor and managing editor of the evening newscast. Sawyer remains at the net to “devote her boundless energy full time to a team which will create and commission original reporting, big ideas and interviews for all platforms,” said ABC News president James Goldston. Tweeted Sawyer, “We have an exciting new adventure ahead.”

CW announced it will “strategically roll-out” its fall offerings, avoiding the crush of the official September premiere week. The Vampire Diaries and Reign bow Thursday, October 2, with The Originals back Monday, October 6. The Flash and Supernatural launch Tuesday, October 7, Arrow arrives Wednesday, October 8, Jane the Virgin debuts Monday, October 13 and The 100 comes back Wednesday, October 22.

Fans of Olivia Pope’s smashingly chic wardrobe on Scandal can get a piece of it (sort of) at retailer the Limited. The ABC drama’s costume designer, Lyn Paolo, along with star Kerry Washington and Limited head of design Elliot Staples, collaborated for a Scandal-inspired collection arriving in stores September 22, with prices beginning at an un-Olivia-like $49.

Binge-viewing’s nothing to be embarrassed about, according to a study from Tivo. While 53 percent of respondents surveyed in April 2013 felt the habit had negative connotations, that number dropped to one third in the current report. Three quarters of those surveyed reported they’d “super-binged” three or more episodes of a series in a day, and 29 percent admitted to putting off watching a season of a show until they could watch it all at once.

NBC weight loss competition Biggest Loser is losing Jillian Michaels. Again. It’s the third time the personal trainer has headed for the exit – she also left in 2006 and 2011. “The Biggest Loser and Jillian Michaels have decided to part ways,” said a statement from NBC and producers Shine America. Loser returns in the fall for season 16.

Character actor Eli Wallach died June 24. He was 98. A theater actor at heart, Wallach also had memorable film roles and appeared in numerous television shows, including Highway to Heaven, Murder, She Wrote and ER. NYC theater district marquees will go dark for one minute on Friday in his honor.
