TBS canceled ratings-challenged late-nighter The Pete Holmes Show after two seasons. “We recognize Pete as one of the most relevant comedians working today,” said the net. “We loved the show and gave it two chances, we just couldn’t draw the audience needed to justify a third round.” But no hard feelings. “I got to work everday in a magical chocolate factory of joy,” Holmes posted on Facebook Friday night. “It was a great experience from start to finish, and I have nothing but love and thanks for all involved.” Show ends Wednesday, June 18.

Quentin Tarantino wants to add footage to his 2012 movie, Django Unchained, and turn it into a four-hour mini-series for cable, the director told an audience in Cannes. “People roll their eyes at a four-hour movie,” said Tarantino, “but a four-hour miniseries that they like, they are dying to watch all four parts.”

Former Saturday Night Live “Weekend Update” anchor Norm Donaldson isn’t being shy about his desire to replace the departing Craig Ferguson as host of CBS‘s Late Late Night. “It would be so cool to get that job,” Donaldson told the New York Times. And a Twitter campaign is getting attention. “You want to be part of the conversation,” Donaldson told the Times. “If it takes walking up to the table where the conversation is taking place, I don’t think that’s so terrible.”

Actor Matthew Cowles died May 22. He was 69. In addition to roles on stage (Sweet Bird of Youth) and screen (Shutter Island), Cowles won two Emmys for his memorable role as Billy Clyde Tuggle on All My Children. Cowles was married to Christine Baranski (The Good Wife) since 1983.
