Syfy‘s Sharknado 2 will debut in 86 countries within 24 hours of its July 30 premiere in the U.S. “Based on the breakout success of the original – and the instant swell of enthusiasm on social media – we wanted to make Sharknado 2 an immediate experience for international Syfy viewers from Europe and Latin America to Asia Pacific,” said Steve Patscheck, VP of programming for NBCU’s Universal Networks Intl.

Networks blocking access to their web sites during distribution disputes is something “we should all worry about,” cautioned FCC chairman Tom Wheeler during a congressional hearing. CBS blocked Time Warner Cable customers from their sites during the blackout last summer, and Viacom is currently withholding some of its content from Cable One consumers as the companies argue over fees.

E! extended its deal with Giuliana Rancic through April 2016. No need to add to her duties: The TV personality will continue as anchor and managing editor of E! News, as well as host Live From the Red Carpet and Beyond Candid with Giuliana, co-host Fashion Police and appear in reality show Giuliana & Bill. “Giuliana brings not only a wealth of experience to the air, but also a fun, relatable and candid energy that makes her a fan favorite,” said Cyndi McClellan, president, network strategy & E! The finales of NBC‘s The Voice and ABC‘s Dancing with the Stars overlapped for the first time on Tuesday. While The Voice’s 3.3 rating/10 share among A18-49 topped the night in the demo and was up week to week, it was down 25 percent from its 2013 spring finale and down 18 percent from the fall’s. Dancing’s 2.4/7 rating dropped 10 percent from its year-ago closer, but matched its fall finale. DWTS won with night in total viewers (13.7 million), its biggest audience in a year and a half.

The first night of Fox‘s American Idol finale scored a 1.7/6 rating opposite first-hour recap content on Dancing and The Voice, versus 3.0/10 for its two-hour finale on a Wednesday night last year. Post-Idol, new reality show I Wanna Marry Harry debuted with a soft .7/2 among A18-49.

Queen Latifah‘s May 20 Carol Burnett Show reunion was a winner. In overnight household ratings, the talker rose 27 percent versus the week prior, to 1.4/4.  In New York, ratings surged 83 percent and in L.A., rose 44 percent.
