The Weather Channel‘s AMHQ with Sam Champion debuts today at 7a, with live reporting from St. Patrick’s Day celebrations in NYC, Savannah, GA, Hot Springs AR (“home of the world’s shortest St. Patty’s Day parade”) and Chicago. “It is not a coincidence that AMHQ launches on St Patrick’s Day,” said Champion. “It’s a holiday known for outdoor celebrations across the country, the type of weather-dependent events that AMHQ plans to cover live every week.”

Viacom‘s making a real event of the live season three premiere of TV Land‘s The Soul Man, to be simulcast on sister nets BET and Centric. Centric will then run eps of Soul Man on Saturdays, a week and a half after they air on TV Land. Triple premiere is Wednesday, March 26 at 10:30p, after TV Land’s live season premiere of the comedy from which Soul Man was spun, Hot in Cleveland.

TNT has a full slate of original series this summer. Sked launches with the season three premiere of Major Crimes at 9p on Monday, June 9, followed by the series premiere of Stephen Bochco‘s Murder in the First. Season five of Rizzoli & Isles starts Tuesday, June 17 at 9p, with season three of Perception bowing at 10p. Friday, June 20, Cold Justice resumes season two at 8p. New series from Michael Bay, The Last Ship, debuts Sunday, June 22 at 9p, followed by season four of Falling Skies at 10p. Dallas returns Monday, August 18 at 9p to finish its season three, and two days later comes the debut of new drama Legends at 9p, followed by the fourth season premiere of Franklin & Bash at 10p.

Comedian David Brenner died on March 15 of cancer. He was 78. In addition to frequent appearances on The Tonight Show during Johnny Carson’s reign, Brenner starred in four HBO specials and hosted a syndicated talk show in 1987. “This leaves an irreplaceable hole,” tweeted comedian Richard Lewis.
