Satan, played by an actor who bore a resemblance to President Obama, will not make it to the big screen. History Channel miniseries The Bible, from 20th Century Fox with producers Mark Burnett and Roma Downey, was crafted into a film called Son of God that won’t include the character that stirred controversy. Insisting any resemblance was unintentional, Downey said in a statement, “We cast Satan out. It gives me great pleasure to tell you that the devil is on the cutting room floor.”

Among the celebs popping by The Tonight Show on Monday to pay off a $100 “bet” that Jimmy Fallon would never get to be host of the talker (Robert De Niro, Mariah Carey, Rudy Giuliani, Lady Gaga to name a few, plus Stephen Colbert, who shouted “Welcome to 11:30, bitch,” before snapping a selfie) was Joan Rivers. The caustic comic had been banned from Tonight Show since 1986, when she left her role as permanent guest host to star in a competing show on Fox, The Late Show Starring Joan Rivers. “It’s about time!” said Rivers in a statement. “I’ve been sitting in a taxi outside NBC with the meter running since 1987.”

HGTV’s new series, The Jennie Garth Project, is in production, following the actress as she renovates her home. “I’m tired of over-paying people to do things,” said the former Beverly Hills, 90210 star. “I can do it myself.” Series from Departure Films is scheduled to premiere in June; Garth’s comedy with Tori Spelling, Mystery Girls, got the green light from ABC Family last month.

VH1 picked up Naked Dating (wt), a relationship series “free of pre-conceived notions, stereotypes – and clothes.” The show, from Lighthearted Entertainment, “will be edited according to network standards,” promises VH1. But it’s not really about the nudity. “On the surface this show appears very provocative, but at its heart is a sweet show about people looking to make a real and lasting connection with someone,” Susan Levison,  VH1 EVP, Original Programming & Production. ”The ‘naked’ will get your attention, but storytelling will keep you coming back.”
