MTV had a “huge” night, reported the net, with the season five premiere of Teen Mom 2 Tuesday at 10p delivering 3.2 million total viewers, up almost 20 percent from the season four premiere, and a 2.5 P12-34 rating. MTV is going retro. Leading up to one-hour special Retromania: Hip Hop on Saturday, February 1 at 2:30p, the net will feature Retromania: Hip Hop Week. Segments start airing Monday, January 27 as interstitials, with hip hop artists revisiting some of the best culture moments from the late 1990s (American Pie, anyone?) through the mid-2000s. “There is an incredibly strong sense of nostalgia for the late 90s and early 2000s that we see play out with our audience in social media every day,” Dave Sirulnick, exec producer and EVP for MTV tells Cynopsis.
