CBS ordered four-hour mini-series The Dovekeepers from exec producers Roma Downey (Touched by an Angel) and reality king Mark Burnett (Survivor, The Voice), the team behind History ratings smash The Bible. The production, based on the Alice Hoffman novel about four women’s fight for survival at the siege of Masada, planned for 2015, is the first project from CBS Entertainment and CBS TV Studios’ new Limited Series and Event programming unit.

Californication will get a seventh season on Showtime but it will be the dark comedy’s last, announced the net. The final twelve episodes of the series, starring David Duchovny as a hedonistic writer, will premiere in April 2014 – to “neatly wrap up” storylines.

The American Film Institute named its Top 10 programs of 2013 on Monday, revealing a preference for non-broadcast dramas. And the winners are: The Americans (FX), Breaking Bad (AMC), Game of Thrones (HBO), The Good Wife (CBS), House of Cards (Netflix), Mad Men (AMC), Masters of Sex (Showtime), Orange is the New Black (Netflix), Scandal (ABC) and (the sole comedy) Veep (HBO). Selections were decided by juries of AFI members, critics, artists and AFI trustees.
