NBC is counting on its hit freshman drama, The Blacklist, to keep going strong – the net issued a full season two pickup the morning after the show’s fall finale on Monday. “The success of The Blacklist demonstrates that inspired storytelling is alive and well in broadcast television,” said NBC Entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt. Blacklist, NBC’s most-watched new drama in 19 years, returns with new episodes January 13 at 10p.

FX Productions signed an overall deal with Louis CK and his company Pig Newton to develop and produce new series for FX. “Working with Louis C.K. has been one of the most rewarding and enjoyable experiences of my career,” said FX Networks and FX Productions CEO John Landgraf. The comedian’s comedy Louie, launching its fourth season in May 2014, landed FX its first Outstanding Comedy Series Emmy nom this year.

Contractor and HGTV host Bill Beckwith died on December 3 after a car hit his motorcycle. He was 38. Beckwith founded BB Design Build in 2001, and went on to serve as a host on Curb Appeal. “The HGTV family is deeply saddened by Bill’s tragic death,” said a network statement, “and we mourn his loss along with his many family and friends who will miss his creativity, adventurous spirit and general love of life.”
