Time Warner Cable took a bigger hit than expected from its month-long CBS blackout this summer. The stand-off cost the company 306,000 of its 11.7 million television subscribers, almost double what Wall Street expected, it was revealed in an earnings call. “Not surprisingly, we saw some customers disconnect,” said TWC COO Rob Marcus, who said the bitter battle got better deals for the cable company.

The Improv: 50 Years Behind the Brick Wall, a doc celebrating the famous comedy club, will air Friday, December 6 at 10p, announced Epix. After a successful summer test run, daytime talker The Real has been sold to all Fox owned-and-operated stations for a fall 2014 launch. The one-hour daily chatfest from Telepictures, featuring hosts Tamar Braxton, Loni Love, Adrienne Bailon, Jeannie Mai and Tamera Mowry-Housley, offers “a real, multi-cultural conversation about issues that women of all ages are talking about,” said Ken Werner, President of Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution.

NBC can’t get enough of Tina Fey. The SNL and 30 Rock alum, who signed a deal to co-host the Golden Globes for the net, has gotten a straight-to-series order from NBC for a comedy she’s producing with 30 Rock’s Robert Carlock starring Ellie Kemper (The Office). The show, about a woman who escapes a cult, is scheduled for a fall 2014 debut.
