Emmy producer Ken Erlich addressed the backlash since the announcement that his awards telecast would single out five actors for special tributes, apart from the traditional In Memoriam segment. The inclusion of relative newcomer Cory Monteith (Glee) and exclusion of TV icon Larry Hagman (Dallas), in particular, has drawn criticism. “There’s only so much you can do,” Erlich told reporters Wednesday. “In all candor, this becomes a producer’s option.”
