Showtime may be fretting about its Homeland season 3 premiere leaking online, but ABC has a different strategy – purposely making three of its new series available ahead of their broadcast launches. The net is premiering The Goldbergs, Trophy Wife and Back in the Game on demand via watchABC.com, and the watchABC app for smart phone and tablets, through Tuesday, September 17. Broadcast bows aren’t until Tuesday, September 24 for Goldbergs and Wife (9p and 9:30p) and Wednesday, September 25 at 8:30p for Game.

In a Wednesday appearance, CBS CEO Leslie Moonves confirmed on CNBC that digital rights played a big part in the dispute with Time Warner Cable that led to a month-long blackout for over three million TWC subscribers. “One of the things we were fighting for is the ability to slice and dice our content all over the place,” said Moonves. “To put it on Netflix, to put it on Amazon, to let people binge view.”

HBO has nabbed U.S. TV rights for Dangerous Acts Starring the Unstable Elements of Belarus from documentary filmmaker Madeline Sackler (The Lottery). “After working on this film in secret because of censorship in Belarus,” said Sackler, “we are very excited to be sharing it with audiences on HBO.” Movie premieres Sunday, September 8 at the Toronto Film Festival.
