Promoting his CBS midseason drama, Intelligence, at Comic-Con, Josh Holloway acknowledged the irony of playing a secret agent with a computer implanted in his brain. “I’m one of the most computer illiterate,” he confessed during a Q& A session. “It’s a funny dichotomy that they picked me to be the tech guy.” The spy drama debuts in February.

While some were analyzing why the social media mania that attended the first airing of Syfy‘s Sharknado on July 11 (5,00 tweets a minute) didn’t translate into monster ratings (the TV-movie had a so-so 1.4 million viewers – but let’s see what happens for its encore tonight at 7p), we were wondering: Sharknado? Why? Screenwriter Thunder Levin lets Cynopsis in on a little secret. “Syfy already had the title, and I had to craft a script around it,” says Levin. “I started with the thought, ‘What would happen if LA were hit with a hurricane?’ The streets here flood if it rains for five minutes so we’d be completely unprepared. And then I added sharks. And tornadoes.”  Mystery solved!

TVGN is gearing up for fall with a mix of reality shows and celeb vehicles. Mother of All Talent tracks a mother/daughter duo who run a talent agency for kids (overbearing mother? Check), while Tequila Sisters follows the soapy doings of a Hispanic family living in Southern California. On the star spectrum, Wendy Williams brings her signature brand of outrageous to The Wendy Williams Project (working title), a series documenting the trials and triumphs the talk show host faces making her Broadway debut in Chicago. And the net is banking on country singer John Rich being charismatic enough to pull off John Rich Project (working title), “part talk, part reality and all parts Nashville.” All four shows premiere this fall.

The show must go on. Glee is looking for singer/actors to fill two new roles: a “cute and quirky” twentysomething named Jenny, and an African-American student. Calls for both parts went out the week before Corey Monteith’s tragic death on July 13 at age 31; the show is proceeding with casting.
