Cable news got a hefty bump from the announcement of George Zimmerman‘s not guilty verdict in the Trayvon Martin trial, with almost 11 million people tuning in Saturday night for the controversial call. The View is about to get blonder. ABC confirmed its worst-kept secret yesterday: Jenny McCarthy will join the morning gabfest on Monday, September 9. The bubbly bombshell and one-time Playboy Playmate of the Year had guest-hosted The View eight times; she’ll join vet panelists Whoopi Goldberg and Sherrie Shepherd. “She has connected with our audience and offers a fresh point of view,” said Barbara Walters of her new hire. Joy Behar leaves at the end of the summer; Elisabeth Hasselbeck departed last week to join Fox News.

As Glee mourns the death of Cory Monteith, who passed away Saturday at age 31, the Fox show is also contending with how to craft the exit of one of its most popular stars. (In last season’s finale, Monteith’s character, Finn, was in college indulging in fraternity hijinks.) Meanwhile, Hollywood grapples with how to honor the actor. Matthew Morrison paid personal tribute to the star on Sunday night, dedicating his performance at NYC’s 54 Below to Monteith, and Bravo is re-airing the actor’s appearance on Inside the Actors Studio on Thursday, July 18 at 6p.

Christie has appeared on late-night TV, including a Springsteen-spouting, comedically combative spot on SNL, but this will be his first scripted comedy appearance in prime time. (We’re betting he’ll work in a Boss reference.)

Lindsay Lohan‘s mom, Dina, is on board with the eight-part reality series her troubled daughter is doing for OWN about life after rehab (Lindsay gets out of Betty Ford at the end of July). “It’s fantastic,” Dina told E! News. “If anyone is going to mentor you, it’s going to be Oprah.” As opposed to your mother…
