The future beyond season two looks hazy for ABC Katie Couric talker Katie. It’s been reported that there’s been plenty of backstage drama since Jeff Zucker, who launched Katie in September 2012 and served as executive producer, exited in January 2013 to become worldwide president of CNN. While Katie tries to strike a balance between hard news and more standard daytime topics, most of the show’s station partners, mainly ABC affiliates, say the show hasn’t lived up to ratings expectations.

E!’s The Soup is getting a new comedy spinoff. Led by host Joel McHale, The Soup Investigates will delve deeper into the Hollywood scene and take on pop culture myths and rumors, with tongue-in-cheek investigative reporting. The new show premieres Wednesday, June 19 at 10:30p, following a new episode of The Soup at 10p.

No more waiting to exhale. ASPiRE is set to premiere its first original weekly talk show exhale, a Black Robin Media production. Hosted by five African-American women — journalist Angela Burt-Murray; actress and comedian Erin Jackson; director, writer and actress Issa Rae; author and TV anchor Rene Syler; and actress Malinda Williams – the show will serve up conversation about topics affecting African American women. The eight-episode series premieres Thursday, June 27 at 8p, coinciding with the one-year anniversary of ASPiRE’s launch. Subsequent episodes will air Wednesdays at 8p starting July 10.
