Microsoft’s popular video game Halo is becoming a live-action TV series, and Steven Spielberg is set to executive produce it. The multi-billion-dollar game franchise inspired the 90-minute Web series Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn, which centered on the game’s protagonist Master Chief. Spielberg will explore Master Chief’s narrative in the series, which will have exclusive interactive Xbox One content.

Simon’s Angels? Simon Cowell will be surrounded by women when The X Factor returns for its third season this fall. FOX has confirmed that Grammy Award-winning artist Kelly Rowland and international pop star Paulina Rubio will join Cowell and Demi Lovato as judges on the singing competition series. “It’s taken more than a decade, but I’m delighted to finally be on a panel with three girls (I think!)” said Cowell. “Paulina and Kelly both have great taste and massive experience in the music industry and together with Demi, this is going to be a fun panel. It just feels like the time to do something different.” The X Factor is produced by Syco Entertainment and FremantleMedia North America.

It’s only a matter of weeks before Prince William and Kate become parents to their royal baby, and ABC is celebrating the occasion with Bringing Up Baby: Royal Edition, a 20/20 special with Barbara Walters. The hour-long broadcast will provide viewers with a look at how the newest generation of royal heirs will be raised. In addition, the special will include a retrospective of Walters’ years of covering the British royals, from their births and weddings to Princess Diana’s funeral to excerpts from Walters’ 1984 electric interview with Prince Charles. Bringing Up Baby: Royal Edition airs Monday, May 27 at 10p.

Among the highlights: reality series’ Familia de Circo (produced by High Noon Entertainment), about a 40-year family-run circus under the antics and clashing egos of 5 Mexican brothers, and Divas del Azucar (produced by High Noon Entertainment), about a Cuban mother and her two daughters who are bakers to the stars; new novela Fortuna, about the double-life of wealthy casino mogul Adolfo Altamirano; and returning novela Ninas Mal 2.

The Kennedy Center has chosen Carol Burnett as the recipient of the 16th annual Mark Twain Prize for American Humor. The beloved comedienne launched The Carol Burnett Show in 1967, which ran for 11 seasons on CBS, scoring 25 Emmys; Burnett herself won six over the course of her career, not to mention eight Golden Globes, 12 People’s Choice Awards and a Peabody (for the 1979 ABC movie Friendly Fire). Burnett will be awarded the honor in October.

Commemorating Monday’s death of music legend Ray Manzarek, keyboardist for The Doors, Smithsonian Channel will air encore presentations of The Doors: Mr. Mojo Risin’ – The Story of L.A. Woman, next week. The one-hour documentary is an intimate look at the making of what would be the iconic rock band’s final album together. Bounty hunters ‘Dog’, Beth and Leland Chapman will continue hunting down America’s most dangerous fugitives. CMT has picked up an additional 11 episodes of the first season of Dog and Beth: On the Hunt. The full order will now total 22 episodes. Production on the back 11 begins immediately to air in August.

The FX pilot The Strain is bulking up its cast. Mia Maestro (Alias) has landed a co-starring role playing Corey Stoll’s love interest Dr. Nora Martinez, a brilliant biochemist.
