Seth MacFarlane took to Twitter to shoot down any talk that he might be returning as host of next year’s Oscars. “Traumatized critics exhale: I’m unable to do the Oscars again. Tried to make it work schedule-wise, but I need sleep,” MacFarlene posted on Monday. “However, I highly recommend the job, as [Craig] Zadan and [Neil] Meron are two of the most talented producers in the business.” While MacFarlane’s hosted Oscars was the most-viewed telecast in three years, it was panned by critics.

Mistresses, a drama about the lives of a sexy, sassy group of four girlfriends premieres Monday, June 3 at 10p on ABC. The drama, from ABC Studios and based on the hit UK television series of the same name, stars Alyssa Milano, Yunjin Kim, Rochelle Aytes, Jes Macallan, Brett Tucker, Jason George and Erik Stocklin.

Yesterday was the 72nd Peabody Awards in New York City, of which Cynopsis was a proud sponsor. Thirty-nine awards were given out at the Waldorf Astoria hotel, both to individuals such as comedy king Lorne Michaels as well as to the first blog to win a Peabody, SCOTUSblog.com, which covers the Supreme Court. The biggest crowd reactions were reserved for ABC News’ Robin Roberts, who said she shared her struggle with cancer on Good Morning America because it was a “teachable moment,” and CBS’s 60 Minutes’ Joy in the Congo, about a Congolese man who taught himself to read music and eventually assembled an orchestra.

The second season of IFC‘s Comedy Bang! Bang! kicks off on Friday, July 12 at 10p with 20 all new episodes and a robust line-up of guest stars, including Jessica Alba, Zoe Saldana and Zach Woods. The first ten episodes air from July 12 to September 13, followed by a short fall hiatus before picking back up on Friday, October 18 for ten more episodes. Host Scott Aukerman and musical cohort Reggie Watts are both returning to the show. Comedy Bang! Bang! is produced for IFC by Abso Lutely Productions.

Martin Scorsese presents Mel Brooks with the American Film Institute’s 41st Life Achievement Award, America’s highest honor for a career in film, at a private black tie gala at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on June 6. The special airs on TNT Saturday, June 15 at 9p and as part of an all-night tribute to Brooks on TCM on Sunday, July 24 at 8pm.

America’s favorite medical guru is re-filling his prescription. FOX has renewed Sony Pictures Television‘s Dr. Oz on 13 TV stations in 13 markets, including New York, Los Angeles and Chicago. In addition, it has added seven more markets. Among them: Los Angeles, where the show will switch over from ABC’s KABC this fall; Dallas; Houston; Phoenix; Minneapolis; Orlando; and Charlotte. FOX did not renew the show in Atlanta. Dr. Oz is produced by Harpo Productions with Sony Pictures Television.
