Barbara Walters officially announced her retirement on yesterday’s episode of The View on ABC. After 50 years on television, the broadcast journalist, who turns 84 in September, plans to step away from the limelight in the summer 2014. Walters will remain on The View through next season, stepping down after production wraps. She will continue to serve as co-executive producer of the show and return for special occasions.

The first round of stars performing at the 2013 CMT Music Awards have been announced. Hunter Hayes, Little Big Town, Luke Bryan, Pistol Annies and Taylor Swift will all take the stage during this year’s live show. Hosted by Jason Aldean and Kristen Bell, country music’s first fan-voted awards show will be broadcast from Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on Wednesday, June 5 at 8p on CMT and CMT.com. Additional performers and presenters will be announced in coming weeks.

Also on the award show front, The Recording Academy and CBS have set dates for the Grammy Awards in 2014 and 2015. The 56th Annual Grammy Awards will return to Los Angeles’ Staples Center on Sunday, January 26, 2014 and be broadcast 8p live on CBS. The 57th Annual Grammy Awards will be held on Sunday, February 8, 2015.

HBO has had a change of heart. After originally passing on the James Gandolfini drama Criminal Justice, an adaptation of Peter Moffat’s 2008 BBC crime series, the network has ordered seven episodes of the retooled show. The network plans to air it as a seven-hour limited series.

Oxygen Media has greenlit the docu-series Pastors of L.A. to premiere in fall 2013. The show will give viewers a revealing look at six boldly different mega-pastors in Southern California, who are willing to share diverse aspects of their lives, from their work in the community and with parishioners to the very large and sometimes provocative lives they lead away from the pulpit. The show is being produced by L. Plummer Media.
