Netflix’s Q1 numbers are in, and the company reports that it now has 29.17 million subscribers in the US alone — that’s 2 million more than the number of subscribers the streaming video provider had at the end of 2012. Globally, Netflix reports more than 36 million subscribers, an addition of 3.05 million new customers when compared to the end of 2012/previous quarter. The company’s net income during Q1 was $2.6 million on revenue of $1.02 billion, the first time it’s topped the billion-dollar mark. As a result, Netflix shares, which had gone up 11 percent during regular trading on Monday, rose an additional 21 percent after the closing bell on Wall Street.

Good news for Mario Lopez; bad news for Khloe Kardashian. Lopez is returning as sole host of FOX‘s The X Factor, when the singing competition series launches its third season, this fall. Kardashian, who briefly served as Lopez’s co-host, is out. The X Factor judge Simon Cowell noted that he is “thrilled” to have Lopez back. “Hosting a live show and keeping the judges – especially Demi – in line, is not an easy job,” teased Cowell, referring to fellow judge Demi Lovato. “But Mario is a pro.” Open auditions for the show’s third season continue in Long Island, NY, at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum on April 25; and in Denver, CO, at the Denver Coliseum on May 14.
