ABC has a new primetime mystery reality series Whodunnit? set to roll out this summer from Anthony E. Zuiker, creator of the CSI franchise and Cris Abrego, founder of the production company 51 Minds.  Production has started on this nine-episode series where 13 contestants put their investigative skills to the test to solve a series of murders.  The amateur sleuths will reside on a luxury estate where each week they must solve a new crime in order to advance in the game.  Those who fail will be eliminated until three are left.  In the final episode, one player will reveal the killer and take home the $250,000 prize.  This interactive series is produced by Zuiker’s Dare to Pass and 51 Minds.

UK pop band, The Wanted landed a new docu-series on E! premiering this June under the working  title The Wanted Life. The series follows the five band members – aka the Bad Boys of Pop, as they come to California to record their third album and gear up for their new US and European tour later this year.  The series is produced by Ryan Seacrest Productions, SB Productions and Global TV UKRyan Seacrest, Adam Sher, Scooter Braun, Ashley Tabor and Danny Rose are serving as EPs.

Bridging the gap between television and social media, HGTV launches a new series Spontaneous Construction on Friday, February 15 with back-to-back episodes at 8p and 830p.  The half-hour series is hosted by Ricky Paull Goldin who utilizes email, Facebook, Twitter, Craigslist and other social media outlets to initiate a “task mob” of carpenters, skilled laborers and neighbors who live near or travel from afar to surprise homeowners with a renovation job finished in two days.  In a twist, the “flash mob” turned task mob workers also perform choreographed dances to such hits as “Footloose” and “Bust A Move” in between painting and plastering.

Actress and filmmaker Isabella Rossellini returns to Sundance Channel in her latest series Mammas which bows appropriately on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 12.  In this new nine-episode series, Rossellini writes, directs and is featured dressed in fantastical costumes in reenactments to become like animal mothers.  From cuckoos to wasps, Rossellini’s entertaining and educational portrayals will show the varied ways mothers in the wild provide for their young.  Previously, Rossellini showed the world the unconventional mating and the sex lives of animals in her short film series Green Porno and Green Porno Seduce Me.  Mammas is additionally produced by Patrice Haddad and Claire Marquet in association with Sundance Channel.

MTV2 for the first time is expanding its original programming lineup beyond the 11p hour on Tuesdays with the launch of new series, Mac Miller and the Most Dope Family premiering Tuesday, February 26 at 1130p.  This show will follow an all-new episode of Guy Code at 11p.  The new six-part special series will follow the adventures of Mac Miller, a young music star as he records his next album titled Watching Movies with the Sound Off.  Miller also lives the L.A. lifestyle with his buddies from back home in Pittsburgh: Quentin, Jimmy, Peanut and Big Dave.

TLC renewed Toddlers & Tiaras for a sixth season and ordered eight additional one-hour episodes of Cheer Perfection, both of which are produced by Authentic Entertainment and slated to return this summer.  Toddlers & Tiaras will be back on TLC’s line-up with 13 one-hour episodes.

Just prior to its first season finale airing tonight, MTV picked-up a second season of Buckwild.  The next season will consist of 12 half-hour episodes following a group of nine young and adventurous friends living in West Virginia who find inventive ways to have fun.  Buckwild has become the #1 rated original cable series on Thursday nights among P12-34 since it premiered last month.  The series has further attracted an average of 3.0 million total viewers per episode.  Buckwild is from Zoo Productions and Parallel Entertainment.

John Corbett will next star in CBS’ potential NCIS: Los Angeles spinoff titled NCIS: Red.  Corbett will star as analyst Roy Quaid, a former NCIS special agent forced to retire from active service who now works as an analyst.  He is the most experienced investigator working for the Red Team, a fact that is not lost on the other agents.  NCIS: LA’s Miguel Ferrer will reprise his role in the possible spinoff while Edwin Hodge will play Special Agent Kai, a computer expert and transport coordinator from South Central L.A.
