Ready to scare up some more viewers, Lifetime has ordered 10 episodes of the drama Witches of East End starring Julia Ormond, Jenna Dewan-Tatum, Rachel Boston, and Madchen Amick. With a planned premiere for later this year, Lifetime partnered with Fox 21 to adapt the project for television which is based on Melissa de la Cruz’s novel of the same name. Rob Sharenow, EVP/Programming of Lifetime Networks said, “We’ve been thrilled about Witches of East End and its powerful premise since the moment we bought the property, and our friends at Fox 21 helped develop it for television. This is one of the most exciting ensemble casts we’ve seen and the whole show is fresh, original and just right for Lifetime.”

Dr. Mehmet Oz, host of syndicated talk show The Dr. Oz Show from Sony Pictures Television Distribution, will lend his expertise for iVillage during the week of February 4th as part of the site’s 2013 Guest Editor series. iVillage, one of the largest communities for women online will showcase Dr. Oz’s opinions and advice on such themes as Melt the Fat Away and Dr. Oz’s Flat Belly Diet. This is the second year of the series, which featured First Lady Michelle Obama last year. “What better way to start the New Year than with a focus on health and weight loss,” said Liz Zack, Editorial Director at iVillage. “Dr. Oz is such a wealth of knowledge on this subject and we’re also excited to mine our smart community for their best ideas on living healthier and happier lives.”

HBO is collaborating with Girls executive producers/co-showrunners Lena Dunham and Jenni Konner as writers on a new project about the life of Bergdorf Goodman personal shopper Betty Halbreich based on her forthcoming memoir, All Dressed Up and Nowhere to Go. Halbreich has dressed the rich and famous from the Manhattan department store since the 1970s, including such celebrities as Meryl Streep, Sarah Jessica Parker and Katie Couric.

She’s baaack! Roseanne Barr has inked a development deal with Universal Television to develop, star and produce a comedy for NBC. She’ll be working once again with co-EP Steven Greener, who produced her short-lived Lifetime series Roseanne’s Nuts and will serve as EP on the new series along with her. Last year, NBC passed on Barr’s comedy pilot Downwardly Mobile.

Wednesday’s new drama series premiere of The Americans on FX attracted 4.7 million total viewers and 2.54 million A18-49 viewers for its first-run episode and subsequent encores. The series debut episode from 10p-1138p delivered 3.22 million total viewers and 1.57 million with A18-49, which topped the network’s premiere of American Horror Story in total viewers (3.18 million) and Sons of Anarchy among A18-49 (1.55 million). The Americans, with a cast led by Keri Russell, Matthew Rhys and Noah Emmerich continues in its Wednesday at 10p time slot.
