After four seasons, Lifetime has canceled Drop Dead Divas.  The one-hour drama was created by Josh Berman and premiered to 2.8 million viewers in July 2009.  Its recent fourth season averaged 2.3 million viewers.

The series premiere of BET’s Real Husbands of Hollywood on Tuesday at 10p drew 4.1 million viewers.  Combining the 11p encore airing, Real Husbands of Hollywood tallied a total of 6.5 million total viewers for the night.  The second new series, Second Generation Wayans debuted at 1030p and attracted 3.4 million total viewers and when combined with its 1130p encore, the program totaled 4.7 million total viewers for the night.  All together, BET’s new Tuesday night block amassed more than 11 million total viewers.

Also on Tuesday, Investigation Discovery’s new series REDRUM set a new record and has given ID its biggest night in history among A25-54 (511,000) and W25-54 (329,000) and other demos.  The premiere episode totaled 1.415 million total viewers.

The season three premiere of MTV2’s Guy Code broke network records Tuesday night by posting a 0.5 rating with P12-34 becoming the highest rated and most watched original season debut in network history.  The telecast also delivered 323,000 viewers among P12-34.  The show also posted a 0.8 rating with M12-34.

PBS’ Downton Abbey is retaining Maggie Smith in her role as Violet, Dowager Countess of Grantham at least through the next fourth season.  Season three is currently airing on PBS in the US on Sundays at 9p.

Bravo Media has approved a new series, Extreme Guide to Parenting (wt) following parents who practice unique styles of raising their children.  Each episode will take an honest look inside two separate households with different forms of parenting.  The series is produced by Punched In The Head with Craig D’Entrone and Amelia D’Entrone serving as EPs.

Conrad Bain, best known for playing a rich businessman who adopts two little boys from Harlem in the sitcom Diff’rent Strokes has died at the age of 89.  Mr. Bain is also remembered for playing Dr. Arthur Harmon, the blundering next-door neighbor on the CBS sitcom Maude.  Throughout his career, he had also appeared in a number of television commercials and his other TV series credits include Studio One in Hollywood, The Defenders, Dark Shadows and Grandpa Goes to Washington among more recent appearances in the Diff’rent Strokes spinoff The Facts of Life, The Love Boat and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air among many others.  Mr. Bain also appeared on stage, in telefilms and theatrical movies including Lovers and Other Strangers (1970), Jump (1971), A Fan’s Notes (1972) and Postcards From the Edge (1990) as well as other titles.  Mr. Bain is survived by his wife, Monica Sloan; three sons; one daughter; and a brother.

A third season of The Killing is in store after all on AMCFox Television Studios (FTVS) and AMC made a new deal to renew the series for a third season.  The deal also has Veena Sud back as executive producer, writer and showrunner.  Actors Mireille Enos (Sarah Linden) and Joel Kinnaman (Stephen Holder) are returning as well.  The third season will focus on a new case which will be resolved over the course of 12 episodes.  Production on the new season begins February 25 in Vancouver.  The Killing is produced by Fox Television Studios and is executive produced by Mikkel Bondesen for Bondesen Productions; Kristen Campo also serves as co-executive producer.

Travel Channel approved a new original series Tailgate Takeover hosted by food expert Adam Richman that goes to sporting events, concerts, festivals and fairs around the country anywhere tailgating happens.  The series will have 13 half-hour episodes and is slated to premiere this summer.  The network will give viewers a preview of the series with the special Super Bowl Tailgate Takeover airing on January 30 at 9p.  Both the series and the special are produced by Sharp Entertainment.

Bridal-themed series Something Borrowed, Something New premieres on TLC starting February 8 at 10p.  This series is TLC’s latest addition for its BrideDay lineup with 12 half-hour episodes hosted by designer Kelly Nishimoto and stylist Sam Saboura.  In each episode, brides are looking for the perfect dress and have to choose between a new designer gown and a fashionably reimagined heirloom dress.  Something Borrowed, Something New is produced by Trium Entertainment.

The exclusive Lance Armstrong interview conducted by Oprah Winfrey has expanded to air over two nights on OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network. Oprah and Lance Armstrong: The Worldwide Exclusive will air this Thursday from 9-1030p and Friday at 9p.  The interview will be simultaneously streamed live worldwide both nights via Oprah.com.

Jessica Simpson will be starring in a new comedy as NBC ordered a pilot presentation for a scripted half-hour project.  The project is described as a Curb Your Enthusiasm-like venture inspired on Simpson’s real life.  Electus and Universal Television will produce the multi-camera project.  Simpson and Electus head Ben Silverman are also involved in NBC’s Fashion Star which is back for a second season starting March 8.

Clear Channel Media and Entertainment made an exclusive long-term agreement with Steve Harvey to renew and expand his relationship with the company.  The deal will see Harvey continue in his current role as host of The Steve Harvey Morning Show, a nationally syndicated radio show by Premiere Networks on an estimated 70 radio stations in the US that reaches nearly 6.0 million weekly listeners.  Harvey will further work with Clear Channel Media and Entertainment on a variety of joint projects and be a spokesperson for the company.
