Britney Spears is apparently departing from FOX’s The X Factor after serving only one season as judge. Nothing official has been stated by the network or series creator/EP Simon Cowell. Judge L.A. Reid also previously announced his exit so the series will have two judge seats to fill for season three. The X Factor is produced by FremantleMedia North America and SYCOtv.

Tuning in on New Year’s Eve, ABC reports its annual broadcast of Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve Part 1 (1130p-1235a) attracted an average audience of 22.2 million total viewers and posted a 7.7/26 among A18-49, based on Live + Same Day National Program Ratings. Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve Part 2 (109-207a) pulled in an average audience of 6.4 million total viewers and delivered a 2.5/12 with A18-49.

Starting next Monday evening at 8p the MLB Network introduces a new series Costas at the Movies, hosted by Bob Costas. The series features half-hour episodes offering an in-depth look at a baseball-themed movie with interviews with the directors and actors which will be followed by the night’s featured film. A new Costas at the Movies episode and a featured film will air each Monday from January 14 through February 11 at 8p. The upcoming schedule includes Cobb on Monday; Bad News Bears on January 21; A League of Their Own on January 28; Eight Men Out on February 4; and The Natural on February 11.

DIY Network brings back a third season of The Vanilla Ice Project hosted by pop star-turned-home renovator, Rob Van Winkle, a.k.a. Vanilla Ice on January 27 at 10p. The new 13-episode season will be preceded by a new one-hour special, Ice My House on January 20 at 11p.

Switching from the swimming pool to the world’s best golf courses, Michael Phelps, the most-decorated Olympian of all time will next try to improve his golf game on The Haney Project. The fifth season of the series is set to premiere on Golf Channel February 25 at 9p. Over eight weekly, one-hour episodes, fans will watch as Phelps works with celebrated golf coach Hank Haney in addition to being joined by famous friends, his longtime swim coach Bob Bowman and his mother Debbie Phelps. The series will also be paired with interview series Feherty which also is premiering on February 25 at 10p.

New daytime talk show Steve Harvey from NBCUniversal Domestic Television Distribution has been renewed in national syndication for a second season. This news comes after host Steve Harvey was chosen by the 2013 People’s Choice Awards as Favorite New Talk Show Host. The one-hour talk show is currently sold in 98% of the US including all of the NBC Owned Television stations. Many markets are upgrading Steve Harvey since its debut and those include Detroit, Phoenix, Portland, OR, Pittsburgh, Raleigh, Baltimore, Cincinnati, Salt Lake City, Oklahoma City, Austin, Buffalo, Fresno, Fort Myers, Tucson, Honolulu, Des Moines, Madison, Tri Cities and Burlington among many others. Furthermore, NBCUniversal is presently extending the show with stations nationwide for 2014-16. Steve Harvey is produced by Endemol USA and the show is taped before a live studio audience at the HD NBC 5 studios in Chicago.
