n other news from A&E Network, the premiere date for new original scripted drama series Bates Motel is set for March 18 at 10p.  Bates Motel, starring Vera Farmiga, Freddie Highmore, Max Thieriot, Olivia Cooke and Nicola Peltz, is a contemporary prequel to the film Psycho giving viewers the backstory of Norman Bates through his teenage years.  The first season also co-stars Nestor Carbonell and Mike Vogel.  Bates Motel is produced by Universal Television for A&E.

Bounty hunter Duane “Dog” Chapman will star in a new 10-episode series this year on CMT.  Tentatively titled DOG the series features Duane and his wife Beth as they track down dangerous criminals.  Duane’s previous series on A&E Network, Dog The Bounty Hunter was cancelled last year after eight seasons.

The web series Drunk History is coming to TV on Comedy Central this summer.  Comedy Central okayed the weekly half-hour series with eight episodes highlighting historical reenactments by A-list talent and featuring drunken storytellers.  Derek Waters created and stars in the online series which boasted such celebrities as Jack Black, Jim Carrey, Zooey Deschanel, Jason Ritter and others making appearances.  Drunk History is produced by Gary Sanchez Productions.  Comedy Central also renewed its scripted comedy series Workaholics for seasons four and five containing 13 episodes each.  New episodes of Workaholics will air starting January 16 at 10p.

Cher has inked a development deal with Logo.  Terms of the deal were not revealed though network SVP/Original Programming Brent Zacky said Cher is collaborating with comedian Ron Zimmerman for a pilot script set in early 1960s Hollywood.

New 2013 programming including four new original series was announced by OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network.  The new series include Blackboard Wars about the dramatic transformation of New Orleans’ John McDonogh High School.  Produced by Discovery Studios, Blackboard Wars will premiere in March.  Golden Sisters is a real-life comedy following three sisters, Mary, Josie and Teresa who became famous after a web video of the ladies watching a celebrity sex tape went viral.  Golden Sisters will premiere in 2013 and is produced by LMNO Productions.  Raising Whitley (wt) is a docu-series following actress/comedienne Kym Whitley and her chaotic collection of friends whom she calls The Village.  Raising Whitley premieres in 2013 and is produced by Pilgrim Studios.  The fourth new series is Dogfellas (wt) and follows James “Head” Guiliani, a former street enforcer for the mafia and one of John Gotti’s most trusted men whose life-changing encounter with a stray dog inspired him to open Brooklyn’s top dog grooming parlor.  Dogfellas will premiere in 2013 and is produced by NERD TV.  Other series premieres on OWN include its new one-hour drama The Haves And The Have Nots from Tyler Perry Studios debuting May 29; Love Thy Neighbor, the half-hour comedy produced by Tyler Perry Stuidios will also debut May 29; upcoming episodes of Oprah’s Next Chapter will feature Drew Barrymore, LL Cool J and Cissy Houston airing on Sundays at 9p; Oprah’s Master Class co-produced by Harpo Studios and @radical.media returns in March; new episodes of Oprah: Where Are They Now? produced by Harpo Studios and returning in March will highlight Omarosa, rapper Bow Wow, “Octomom” Nadya Suleman, Dennis Rodman, Gennifer Flowers, Heidi Fleiss and Columbine Families; and Iyanla: Fix My Life produced by Harpo Studios will be back this spring.

Original programming heats up E!’s schedule under the banner of White Hot Winter.  A new season of Kourtney & Kim Take Miami premieres over two nights on January 20 and 21 at 9p.  E!’s new series Chasing The Saturdays following one of Britain’s biggest vocal groups also debuts over two nights on January 20 and 21 at 10p.  Mocu-series After Lately bows a new season February 25 at 1030p.  E! will also take viewers to the awards events with coverage under its Live from the Red Carpet shows for the Golden Globes on January 13; the Screen Actor Guild Awards on January 27; Grammy Awards on February 10; and the Academy Awards on February 24.

MTV reports its new unscripted series Buckwild averaged 2.5 million total viewers with its back-to-back premiere episodes last Thursday night.  The first episode at 10p attracted 2.4 million total viewers and the 1030p episode did a bit better at 2.6 million total viewers.  Buckwild also averaged a 1.3 rating among A18-49 and a 1.9 rating with P12-34.

Former Buffy star Sarah Michelle Gellar is considering a return to television in a comedy currently in development at 20th Century Fox Television.  Gellar would play a wife in a sitcom about what parents do while kids aren’t at home.  Shepard Boucher (Men at Work) wrote the spec script and David Hemingson and Margaret Riley are on board as EPs.

CBS handed the title role of its multi-camera comedy pilot Mom from Chuck Lorre to Anna Faris (The Dictator, The House Bunny and the Scary Movie franchise).  She will play a newly sober mom who tries to pull her life together in the Napa Valley.  Lorre co-wrote the script with his Two and a Half Men colleagues Eddie Gorodetsky and Gemma Baker.
