Oxygen revealed the premiere date of its new competition show The Face will be February 12 at 9p.  Produced by Shine America, the seven-episode series is hosted by world-famous photographer and personality Nigel Barker and features Naomi Campbell, Karolina Kurkova and Coco Rocha as supermodel coaches.  The competition will find the newest face of ULTA Beauty.  Oxygen will also air the one-hour kick-off special, THE FACE: The Fight to Make the Final 12 on February 5 at 9p.

Kicking off on New Year’s is TLC’s new four-part series Totally T-Boz, highlighting the life and journey of Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins as she moves to Los Angles with family in friends to reinvent her music career.  The series will air on Tuesdays at 8p beginning January 1.  Totally T-Boz is produced by John Doe Media for TLC.

On Thursdays beginning February 14 at 630p, AMC will air repeat episodes of The Walking Dead in black and white.  The 90-minute premiere and the one-hour subsequent black/white episodes will be the lead-ins to the second season premiere of the docu-series Comic Book Men at 9p, the premiere of Freakshow at 930p and the taxidermy competition series bow of Immortalized at 10p. The premiere to the new episodes will be February 10 at 9p.

Last Wednesday’s 12-12-12 concert at Madison Square Garden to aid the victims of Hurricane Sandy sported multiple viewing outlets worldwide including online properties, radio stations, television networks, satellite services and cable operators.  The concert, presented by Chase, was seen in the US on 38 television channels.  Across the 15 national networks measured by Nielsen, the concert tallied 36.4 million total viewers and 25.8 million households, reaching almost 1 in 4 households.  The average Live + same day viewership on the 15 measured networks was 5.192 million over the 5+ hour event.  An additional Live + same day 698,000 viewers tuned in across the six local networks that carried the event in the New York DMA.

Late last week, FOX’s The X Factor judge L.A. Reid revealed he will not return to the show next year.  Reid said he has “a company to run that I’ve kind of neglected and it saddens me a little bit, but only a little bit.”  Reid is Chairman/CEO of Epic Records.  Reid will finish up season two which airs its season finales this week, part 1 Wednesday and part two on Thursday.

ABC handed a script commitment to a sitcom based on the home life of Justin Bieber.  The single-camera comedy was first bandied about in the 2011 development cycle as a multi-camera project.  The untitled project is described as a family show inspired by Bieber’s unconventional upbringing as he was raised by his mother and grandparents.  The project is from ABC Studios and Bieber and his manager, Scooter Braun will serve as executive producers.  Matt Wolpert and Ben Nedivi are on board to write the script.

A 1980s single-camera comedy titled How the F am I Normal from Adam F. Goldberg (Breaking In) was ordered to pilot by ABC.  The project is described as a dysfunctional Wonder Years set in the 1980s and is inspired by Goldberg’s own childhood.  Goldberg will pen the script and be an EP in addition to Happy Madison’s Doug Robinson and Breaking In’s Seth Gordon who will also direct.  This same project was also set up at FOX in August 2011 when the network renewed Breaking In for a shortened second season but ended up at ABC with a pilot production commitment in September.

Logo launches a live, late-night talk show focused on intimate relationships shot in front of a live studio audience.  The Sex Show premieres February 4 with live broadcasts for both coasts at 11p each night.   Heidi Hamilton hosts the show that will feature a panel of relationship experts including former porn star Katie Morgan, psychic life coach Dougall Fraser and relationship and sexuality expert Dr. Mike Dow who will take calls from the audience via phone, video chat and social networks such as Twitter and Facebook.  Logo’s show will also go live each night with an online version focusing on questions and content that is too much for TV.  The show is produced by Banca Studio in association with Lionsgate Television.

The new weekly live late-night comedy series Nikki & Sara LIVE will debut on MTV January 29 at 11p.  This half-hour comedy show is set in front of a live studio audience hosted by comedians Nikki Glaser and Sara Schaefer based out of MTV’s Times Square Studio.  The show, inspired by Glaser and Schaefer’s popular podcast You Had to Be There will showcase their comedic wit, celebrity interviews and man on the street segments focused on the latest stories and pop culture trends, entertainment, music and more.

TV Land renewed The Soul Man starring Cedric “The Entertainer” and Niecy Nash for a second season and also ordered a third season of The Exes.  The Soul Man delivered a 3.6 rating with the African American A25-54 viewers and averaged 1.4 million total viewers each week.  The Exes, starring Donald Faison, Wayne Knight, David Alan Basche, Kelly Stables and Kristen Johnston averaged 1.2 million total viewers per week.  Both series were renewed with 10 episodes each and are slated to premiere in June 2013.

Due to the death of singer Jenni Rivera, the Tony Bennett concert Feliz Navidad Con Los Nuestros… Tony Bennett y Sus Amigos on Univision which was scheduled to air December 9 will now air December 23 at 9p. The one-hour special is hosted by Univision’s Giselle Blondet and includes segments with Marc Anthony, Gloria Estefan, Romeo Santos and more. Also this Sunday, Univision’s newsmagazine Aqui y Ahora (Here and Now) airs a special edition dedicated to Jenni Rivera at 7p.

TMZ Live, the TMZ.com one-hour daily entertainment news program from Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution (WBDTD) will expand from seven to 17 FOX-owned stations starting Fall 2013.  The series which began online will move to more broadcast stations following a March 2012 test on the FOX-owned station in Los Angeles, KTTV FOX 11.  After this test was deemed successful, the program debuted in June on KSAZ, the FOX-owned station in Phoenix.  In October 2012, FOX Television Stations (FTS) then expanded the series to five more stations: WFXT/Boston, WFLD/Chicago, KDFW/Dallas, WJBK/Detroit and KMSP/Minneapolis.  The additional FOX stations to premiere the series in Fall 2013 include WNYW/New York, WTXF/Philadelphia, WTTG/Washington, DC, WAGA/Atlanta, KRIV/Houston, WTVT/Tampa and WOFL/Orlando.  Beyond Fall 2013, WBDTD will sell the show outside the FOX markets.  The series is available on an all cash basis formatted for 15 minutes of commercials reserved for local station sales.

Soon after Tyler Perry signed an overall deal for scripted fare at OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network, details on two series has emerged, per THR.  Perry will write, direct and executive produce a multi-camera comedy titled Love Thy Neighbor set at Love’s Diner where every day the menu serves up good food, great laughs, life lessons and love for the eclectic neighbors.  The second project is a drama titled The Haves and the Have Nots centered on the dynamics of the affluent Cyrer family and the poverty-stricken family of their housekeeper, Hanna and the obstacles and secrets that exist within both.  Details on how many episodes each series will receive and other production personnel were not disclosed.

Travel Channel set the premiere date for its new original series Armed & Ready with double episodes on February 26 at 10p and 1030p.  The series follows author, photographer and self-proclaimed thrill seeker Kevin Michael Connolly, as he pushes himself to the limit using his amazing arm strength since he can’t use his legs.  Connolly creates new rigs to travel anywhere and to conquer anything without using his wheelchair or prosthetics.  The series, produced by Crazy Legs Productions for Travel Channel has a total of six half-hour episodes.

Nat Geo WILD premieres a new series featuring dog behaviorist Cesar Millan in Cesar Millan’s Leader of the Pack on January 5 at 10p.  Millan’s goal in this new series is to combat the global issue of dog abandonment and giving “unadoptable” dogs a second chance at a new life.  Leader of the Pack is produced for Nat Geo WILD by POWWOW Media Partners.  Also on January 5 at 9p, Nat Geo WILD brings back its top series The Incredible Dr. Pol for a third season.  The series follows skilled veterinarian, Dr. Jan Pol who comes to the rescue helping farm animals to house pets with his old-school, no-nonsense approach to veterinary medicine.  The Incredible Dr. Pol is produced by National Geographic Television for Nat Geo WILD.

A second season of Steven Seagal’s original drama series True Justice premieres January 4 at 9p and 11p on REELZCHANNEL.  The crime-fighting series starring Seagal as Elijah Kane head of the Special Investigations Unit will have 13 all-new episodes.  Joining the cast in season two is Adrian Holmes playing CIA operative Marcus Mitchell who recruits Kane to work as an operative to take out a high-level target that the CIA cannot go after in a traditional way.

Ricky Gervais convinced Karl Pilkington to join him on another journey when An Idiot Abroad 3 debuts on Science Channel January 19 at 9p.  Gervais and Pilkington will travel from Italy to China following the footsteps of famous explorer Marco Polo and joining the pair is friend and TV star Warwick Davis.  An Idiot Abroad 3 is produced by RiSK Productions in association with Me & You Productions.

The CW approved two new reality shows for its development slate: The Hunt is a one-hour competition series from David Garfinkle, Jay Renfroe and Greg Goldman and is described as an “intense wilderness competition.”  The Hunt’s action takes place over one month as 12 teams of two are provided no food, water or shelter but must compete in a game where they rely on their physicality, survival skills and hunting skills to win.  Renegade 83 and Blackbird Television are producing in association with Warner Horizon.  The CW’s second reality project is the half-hour Perfect Score giving participants a chance to win a date but also the opportunity to win cash if they can successfully identify their perfect match.  Scott St. John created the show and will serve as EP.  FremantleMedia North America is producing.  Premiere dates will be announced in the near future.

FX’s upcoming period spy drama The Americans added Margo Martindale (Justified) for a minimum of eight episodes.  Martindale will play a Russian spy living in the US and her character Claudia is a liaison between the KGB and the central spies Phillip (Matthew Rhys) and Elizabeth (Keri Russell).  The 13-episode first season will debut January 30 on FX.

Broadcast veteran Gerard “Gerry” Mulderrig passed away at the age of 82.  Mr. Mulderrig will be best remembered as the architect of a programming and sales strategy that transformed New York’s WPIX-TV from a struggling independent television station into a major competitor with sports and entertainment programming in the country’s largest TV market.
