Spike TV has renewed Ink Master for a third season and Tattoo Nightmares for a second season.  Ink Master will return with 13 all-new episodes while Tattoo Nightmares was given an order for 26 episodes.  Both will begin production in 2013 and debut later next year.

Cooking Channel brings back two lean cooking series early on in the New Year when Not My Mama’s Meals debuts season two on January 2 at 9p and a second season of Drop 5 lbs with Good Housekeeping premieres January 19 at 1030a.  Not My Mama’s Meals stars Bobby Dean who takes his mother’s (Paula Deen) recipes and transforms them into lighter, leaner versions.  Drop 5 lbs with Good Housekeeping, hosted by Melissa d’Arabian along with Good Housekeeping Nutrition Director Samantha Cassetty and Aarti Sequeira offers tips to make weight loss more manageable.

Unscripted series Face Off makes a fourth season comeback on Syfy starting January 15 at 9p.  The new season will welcome a group of special effects makeup artists in Los Angeles as they compete in a series of challenges with one ultimately winning.  Returning as host is McKenzie Westmore and judges Ve Neill, Glenn Hetrick and Neville Page.  Joining the series as an official contestant mentor is world-famous Hollywood makeup artist, Michael Westmore, who won an Oscar for his makeup work on Mask and supervised 18 years of Star Trek and also is the father of host McKenzie Westmore.  Face Off is produced by Mission Control Media.

January 8 marks the mid-season premiere date for Pretty Little Liars on ABC Family at 8p and also the second season bow of The Lying Game at 9p.  The network also has planned all-day marathons of both shows prior to new episodes premiering: The Lying Game will have its all-day marathon on December 31 from 1130a to 530p and Pretty Little Liars’ marathon on January 8 from 11a to 7p.  Both original series are produced by Alloy Entertainment in association with Warner Horizon Television.

Bravo Media reports the season two premiere of Shahs of Sunset on Sunday delivered 2.3 million total viewers and 1.4 million among A18-49, representing +106% and +102% increases over the season one premiere respectively.

Sunday’s mid-season finale of The Walking Dead on AMC at 9p tallied 10.5 million viewers.  The episode encored again at 10p and then again at midnight, delivering an additional 3.6 million and 1.1 million respectively, amassing 15.2 million viewers for the night.  AMC will air the final eight episodes of The Walking Dead season three on February 10 at 9p.

Production started last week on the fifth season of TNT’s police drama Southland from Warner Bros. Television and John Wells Productions.  The series stars Michael Cudlitz, Shawn Hatosy, Regina King and Ben McKenzie and joining as a series regular is former guest star C. Thomas Howell.  Season five will premiere February 13 at 10p on TNT and will air in its regular timeslot on Tuesdays at 10p.
