ABC gave five additional episodes each to its comedies Last Man Standing and Malibu Country. Both Last Man Standing and new series Malibu Country air on Friday nights at 8p and 830p respectively. Twentieth Century Fox Television is behind Last Man Standing while Malibu Country is produced by ABC Studios.

First season series Emily Owens, M.D. has flat-lined at The CW as the network pulled the plug on the medical drama. The CW will still air all 13 episodes of the series’ original order. The most recent airing of Emily Owens, M.D. delivered a 0.3 rating with both A18-49 and A18-34.

It’s not too early to mark calendars for the 65th Primetime Emmy Awards. CBS will air the awards event live from the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles on September 22. Emmy nominees will be announced July 18 from the Academy’s Leonard H. Goldenson Theatre in North Hollywood.

Filling the void left by Jersey Shore on Thursday nights at 10p, MTV will debut a new reality series Buckwild centered on nine young adult friends in a small town in West Virginia who live by the motto “Whatever happens, happens.” MTV rolls out the new series January 3 at 10p and following the premiere, the network will air two back-to-back half-hour episodes each week from 10-11p. Buckwild follows the friends as they fight, drink, four-wheel, dive in mud puddles and overall tear things up.

In other MTV news, the network canceled the series The Inbetweeners which was a remake of a British series of the same name about the misadventures of four high school friends as they transition into adulthood. The 12-episode, half-hour series bowed last August to nearly 1 million viewers though the series concluded earlier this month with a little more than 600,000 viewers.

Current TV will air a special night of comedy to benefit victims of Hurricane Sandy headlined by host Joy Behar. On December 14 at 9p, Joy Behar’s Comics with Benefits will feature Behar and several of her comic friends including Andy Borowitz, Judy Gold, Mario Cantone and John Fugelsang among others. Current TV co-founder Vice President Al Gore and Liza Minnelli will also make appearances during the special.

NBC’s new adventure-reality series Get Out Alive with Bear Grylls (wt) is launching a multi city, national search to find fearless teams of two, to participate on the show.
