NBC has decided to air the one-hour pilot episode Mockingbird Lane, the updated version of the 1960s sitcom The Munsters as a Halloween special on October 26 at 8p. The project from Bryan Fuller and director Bryan Singer has been in development for about two years though NBC opted to not pick up the pilot to series last spring. Portia de Rossi stars as Lily Munster with Jerry O’Connell as Herman Munster, Eddie Izzard as Grandpa, Mason Cook as Eddie and Charity Wakefield as Marilyn.

ABC News’ What Would You Do? series will begin airing encores on HLN October 21. HLN announced its exclusive cable television rights to the docu-series yesterday. Back-to-back episodes will air on Thursday and Sunday nights from 9p to 11p. Furthermore, HLN is expanding its current relationship with Dr. Drew Pinsky with Dr. Drew On Call, a one-hour program airing Mondays through Wednesday at 9p starting October 22.

Yesterday, MTV revealed plans to expand and streamline its hip hop music and lifestyle programming and content across its multiple channels and screens under the brand name MTV Jams. This move extends the MTV Jams brand from a 24-hour digital channel to now integrating into all of MTV’s properties including MTV, MTV2 and MTV.com. The initiative also includes the launch of Jams.MTV.com, a new digital destination for all of MTV’s hip hop content, a new weekly series on MTV2 called The Week in Jams premiering October 28 at 11a as well as a fresh team of contributors joining MTV News’ hip hop expert, Sway Calloway. The new contributors include DJ Envy, Charlamagne Tha God, Sofi Green, Maestro and Nessa. Leading up to the premiere of The Week in Jams, MTV will air a special Hip Hop Homecoming hosted by Sway this Saturday and a movie marathon during the day including the titles How High, Notorious, 8 Mile and Get Rich or Die Trying.

CBS’ legal drama Made in Jersey has become the first canceled new program of the fall broadcast season. Yesterday CBS pulled the drama from its Friday night schedule and will put CSI: NY in its 9p slot starting October 12. CBS’ reality series Undercover Boss is also returning for its fourth season on November 2 at 8p with repeats of NCIS and Hawaii Five-O alternating in the time period until then. Made in Jersey premiered with a 1.1 A18-49 rating and 7.7 million total viewers on September 28 and in its second episode dropped to a 0.8 demo rating and 6.8 million total viewers.

Lifetime renewed its docu-series Dance Moms for a third season helmed by dance instructor Abby Lee Miller. Lifetime ordered 26 all-new one-hour episodes for the new season which will premiere next year. Collins Avenue produces the series.

The final 12-episode season of The Secret Life of the American Teenager will bow next March on ABC Family. The fifth and final season will include a proposal and a wedding and the main characters Amy, Ricky, Ben, Adrian, Grace and Jack will all make plans post-high school. ABC Family will additionally air an all-day marathon on November 19 from 11a to 8p as a lead-in to the new holiday episode airing that evening at 8p.

The seventh season premiere of Psych on USA Network has been set for February 27 at 10p. The new season will have 16 all-new one-hour episodes starring James Roday as police consultant Shawn Spencer who solves crimes with his power of observation so accurately the police think he’s psychic. Eric Dane, formerly known as McSteamy on ABC Grey’s Anatomy was cast in TNT’s drama pilot The Last Ship from Michael Bay. The Last Ship is based on William Brinkley’s novel of the same name about a global catastrophe that nearly wipes out the Earth’s population, forcing the crew of a naval destroyer to confront the reality of their new existence in a world where they are among the only survivors. Dane will star in the pilot as Tom Chanler, the commanding officer of the USS Nathan James who is married with two young daughters. The Last Ship is produced by Platinum Dunes’ Brad Fuller and Andrew Form with Hank Steinberg and Steven Kane as EPs and Bay as producer. Steinberg and Kane are co-writers on the pilot.

Former Law & Order star Jesse L. Martin landed one of the lead roles in NBC’s soap drama The Secret Lives of Husbands and Wives, per TVLine. The plot focuses on three suburban couples affected by a murder. Martin Henderson was recently cast as one of the lead roles. Martin, who will also guest star in NBC’s Smash, will play Greg Cooke, a former hedge fund manager whose financial woes forces him to partner with unsavory characters.

NFL star and actor Alex Karras died Wednesday at his home in Los Angeles at the age of 77. Mr. Karras was an All-Pro lineman for the Detroit Lions and had a second career as an actor in television and movies. Mr. Karras made his film debut in 1968 playing himself in Paper Lion, an adaptation of George Plimpton’s book. This movie role pivoted Mr. Karras into several appearances on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson and then in the 1970s he played numerous guest roles on series such as McMillan & Wife, Love, American Style, M*A*S*H and The Odd Couple. In 1975 he starred in the television movie Babe playing opposite Susan Clark who became his wife and they starred together again in the sitcom Webster which ran from 1983-1989. His other film credits include Porky’s, Against All Odds, Mel Brooks’ Blazing Saddles and Blake Edward’s Victor/Victoria. For three seasons, Mr. Karras was an NFL broadcaster working with Howard Cosell and Frank Gifford on ABC’s Monday Night Football. Furthermore, he wrote a novel, Tuesday Night Football and his autobiography, Even Big Guys Cry. Mr. Karras is survived by his wife, Susan, their daughter, Katherine Karras; and five children from his first marriage, Alex Jr., Peter, Carolyn, George and Renald; and five grandchildren.
