FOX ordered additional episodes of two new Tuesday night comedies. FOX gave Ben and Kate six additional episodes and nine more episodes to The Mindy Project. This takes both comedies to full-season orders. Ben and Kate, starring Nat Faxon and Dakota Johnson is produced by 20th Century Fox Television and Chernin Entertainment. The Mindy Project, headlined, created and written by Mindy Kaling, is produced by 3 Arts Entertainment in association with Universal Television.

New comedy Neighbors on ABC received an order from the network for three more scripts. Jami Gertz and Lenny Venito star as a couple who move to a community populated by aliens who pose as humans.

Original comedic game show series Hip Hop Squares is back with new episodes on MTV2 starting October 23 at 11p. The network will also bring back the car culture and lifestyle series The Dub Magazine Project for season two beginning October 28 at 1p. Hip Hop Squares is under license from CBS Television Distribution.

The Lifetime Original Movie Steel Magnolias, a television adaptation of the play and the 1989 film, averaged 6.5 million total viewers for its world premiere on Sunday, becoming Lifetime’s third most-watched original telecast ever. The movie, produced by Sony Pictures Television and starring and executive produced by Queen Latifah and also starring Phylicia Rashad, Adepero Oduye, Condola Rashad with Jill Scott and Alfre Woodard also averaged 3.2 million A25-54 viewers and 2.5 million among W25-54, the best delivery in this demo in the network’s history.

Goodfellas actor Mike Starr was cast in FOX’s The Mob Doctor in the recurring role as Sal, aka the Westside Boss, a wise-guy who uses his bawdy sense of humor to put people down. The Mob Doctor airs on Mondays at 9p.

Veteran actress Judith Light is joining TNT’s Dallas for its second season when the series returns in late January. Light will play an authoritative and controlling woman who will fight to the death for the people she loves. Light’s character will recur throughout the second season set to premiere January 28.
