ABC will telecast The 2013 Miss America Competition on January 12 at 9p live from Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. The Miss America Organization and ABC tapped Chris Harrison (host of ABC’s The Bachelor and The Bachelorette) and Brooke Burke-Charvet (co-host of ABC’s Dancing with the Stars) to return as hosts for the Miss America Competition.

African American network Bounce TV kicks off its 2012-2013 college football coverage this Saturday with the Elizabeth City State versus Virginia State game live from Rogers Stadium in Ettrick, VA at 1p. Bounce TV offers college football coverage of the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA). Bounce TV also made a sports rights renewal deal with Urban Sports Entertainment Group to televise both CIAA football and basketball games. Bounce TV will air the CIAA Championship football game and select quarter- and semi-final CIAA tournament basketball games as part of the agreement. Furthermore, Bounce TV is set to premiere its new original series Off The Chain on October 22 at 9p hosted by Rodney Perry. Bounce TV launched a little more than a year ago and is available in 80% of African American households and 65 million homes nationally.

Sherri Shepherd hosts The Newlywed Game on GSN which is set to debut the first of 65 all-new episodes on October 25 at 8p. The Newlywed Game will air back-to-back episodes each Thursday night produced by Michael Davies and his production company, Embassy Row, which is owned by Sony Pictures Television.

Hallmark Channel reports new daytime talk show Marie attracted 95,000 W25-54 viewers on the show’s first day October 1 (12p-1p) which is +493% vs. the 3Q12 average. Marie also pulled in 320,000 total viewers. The network’s new Home & Family program (10a-12p) which also bowed on October 1, delivered 41,000 W25-54 viewers which is +28% vs. 3Q12 average and 160,000 total viewers.

Discussions are underway between CBS Television Distribution and Yahoo involving a new name and new look for syndicated news magazine show The Insider. Reports are saying the show will be renamed to omg! NOW. If the decision is made, the changes are expected to happen in January. The Insider is currently in its ninth season and is hosted by Kevin Frazier and Brooke Anderson who are expected to stay with the show in the new format.

A one-hour comedy titled The Taming of the Shrew, the same name as William Shakespeare’s famous play was sold to ABC. Producing the project is Julia Roberts’ Red Om Films, Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas of 3 Arts and ABC Studios. The plot is about a horrible boss and the employees who try to rein her in. Marc Hyman is penning the script and Roberts and Goldsmith-Thomas are both serving as EPs on the project.

Season two of TNT’s drama Dallas has begun production. The 15-episode second season will premiere January 28 at 9p and is produced by Warner Horizon Television. Dallas averaged 5.3 million total viewers during its first season.
