This Sunday at 9p, TV Guide Network launches a 13-episode original drama, The Shores about four beautiful and ambitious young American women, who grab the opportunity to live, work and play in Cape Town, South Africa. Recruited by billionaire playboy, Quinton Van Der Burgh, the women experience the lifestyle of the rich and famous in South Africa as they work for his marketing company, Quintessential. The Shores is a co-production of MarVista Entertainment and Clifton Shores Ltd. UK in association with South African-based Clive Morris Productions.

Excessive savers will be featured in TLC’s new six-episode series Extreme Cheapskates premiering October 16 at 10p. The series will air over three weeks and follows the network’s airing of the Extreme Cheapskates pilot on December 28, 2011 which drew 1.6 million total viewers. The series explores the extreme ways people save money for themselves and their families. Stephen David Entertainment produces the series.

A third season is in store for Discovery Channel’s Gold Rush series starting October 26 at 9p. This new season follows the crews as they search for gold with one crew potentially striking it rich. Prior to the season premiere, Discovery Channel will air the 90-minute special Gold Rush: Do or Die at 730p also on October 26. Gold Rush is produced for Discovery Channel by Raw Television.

TNT renewed legal series Franklin & Bash, starring Breckin Meyer and Mark-Paul Gosselaar for a third season. Franklin & Bash is produced by Four Sycamore Productions, Left Coast Productions and FanFare Productions in association with Sony Pictures Television.

Writer/creator Julian Fellowes is planning on writing a sequel to Downton Abbey. Fellowes related this news at a recent British Academy Film and Television Academy screenwriters lecture. The spinoff show would explore how the Earl and Countess of Grantham, played in the current series by Hugh Bonneville and Elizabeth McGovern first met. The show would cast younger actors to play the Earl and Countess. Fellowes indicated the spinoff would be broadcast after the end of Downton Abbey.

Former Lost star Ken Leung has joined NBC’s midseason soap Infamous in a recurring role. Leung’s role in Infamous, about a female detective (Meaghan Good) who goes undercover among the wealthy family she grew up in to solve a murder mystery, will be that of a fellow detective working on the case. Leung is currently recurring on CBS’ Person on Interest and also recently booked a run on ABC’s Zero Hour.

Michael Trucco has been cast in a recurring role on ABC’s soap Revenge, reports TVLine. He will play Nate, a street-smart, charismatic and somewhat ruthless brother of new Hamptons resident Kenny (JR Bourne). Trucco can be currently seen in a recurring role on CBS’ How I Met Your Mother. His appearance on Revenge will begin later this year.
