Early next year, ABC premieres new reality competition series Troupe Star that honors America’s veterans and active-duty servicemen and women. The one-hour series, from 5 Streams Global Entertainment, debuts January 12 at 8p and will air for eight consecutive weeks, concluding with a two-hour finale on March 2. Trifecta Entertainment & Media will handle all ad sales and sponsorship integrations for the series.

Big Brother was handed a 15th edition renewal by CBS to return on air next summer. This current summer’s edition of Big Brother has averaged 6.79 million total viewers and averaged a 2.5/8 with A18-49 and a 3.0/8 among A25-54. Big Brother is executive produced by Emmy Award-winning producer Allison Grodner and Rich Meehan for Fly on the Wall Entertainment, in association with Endemol U.S.A.

The 2012 NCLR ALMA Awards, celebrating Latinos in entertainment will air across NBC, Telemundo, Telemundo.com, mun2 and mun2.tv. NBC Universal announced yesterday Honda will become a first-time, multi-platform sponsor of the event which opens Hispanic Heritage month. The event will air on NBC this Friday at 8p with an encore airing on mun2 this Saturday.

A tenth season of Top Chef will be served up this fall by Bravo as Top Chef: Seattle debuts November 7 at 10p. Chef and restaurateur Wolfgang Puck joins the show as judge for the upcoming season along with Tom Colicchio, Gail Simmons, Hugh Acheson and Emeril Lagasse and Padma Lakshmi returns as host. Produced by Magical Elves, Top Chef: Seattle watches as 21 chef’testants compete for the title and prizes including $125,000 provided by Healthy Choice, a feature in Food & Wine magazine and a showcase at the Annual Food & Wine Classic in Aspen.

Gilles Marini was upped to series regular for the second season of ABC Family’s drama series Switched at Birth. Marini portrayed Angelo Sorrento, Bay’s biological father and Regina’s ex as a recurring role during season one. Season two of Switched at Birth will premiere on the network in early 2013. The fall leg of the first season is currently airing on Mondays at 8p.

Former Sopranos star James Gandolfini may be starring in a pilot for HBO. The premium cable network gave pilot order to Criminal Justice, an adaptation of a BBC crime drama from Peter Moffat. The drama will follow a guy, who after a night of partying with a stranger, wakes up to find her stabbed to death and is charged with her murder. Gandolfini would star as Jack Stone, a downtrodden jailhouse attorney for hangs out at police stations looking for clients. Steven Zaillian will co-write the pilot and direct with Richard Price attached to co-write. HBO will executive produce the project in association with BBC Worldwide Productions. Filming on the pilot will happen this fall in New York.
