For its third season premiere week, NBC is adding a third night of The Voice. NBC will open The Voice as scheduled on September 10 with a two-hour episode at 8p followed by a one-hour episode on September 11 at 8p. NBC will then add a third one-hour episode on September 12 at 8p.

In other NBC news, the network is taking its medical drama Saving Hope off its schedule and plans on airing the final two episodes of season one online. The two episodes scheduled to air September 8 and 15 will be replaced by repeats of America’s Got Talent and The Voice. Saving Hope thought will continue in Canada as CTV renewed the series for a second season.

Lifetime is venturing into a hidden-camera comedy series, Prank My Mom with Vivica A. Fox starring as host. The network ordered 10 episodes of the series which will spotlight sons and daughters targeting their mothers with pranks. Prank My Mom is set to premiere October 9 at 10p though the network will air a preview on September 27 and again on October 4 at 1030p. The series is produced by Thinkfactory Media and Peter M. Cohen Productions.

Also tonight, MTV has opted to move its telecast of the MTV Video Music Awards to air from 8p to 10p in order to not compete with President Obama’s speech from the DNC. Normally, the VMAs air on Sundays though the network moved it to a Thursday night to avoid going head-to-head against the season opener of Sunday Night Football.

CASTING CALL
Even before the season finale of MasterChef airs on FOX September 10, the show announced the season four open casting calls dates. The cross-country casting calls will begin October 6 in San Diego; followed by Minneapolis and Nashville on October 13; Chicago and Miami on October 20; Dallas and Cleveland on October 27; Los Angeles and Boston on November 3; and New York and Portland on November 10.
